ABOUT ME
I am a shor, middle-aged, pasty, out-of-work writer. According to some, I have the attention span of a nat and the minute I zero in on something, well - squirrel! And I'm off in another direction. By my own admission, my head is like a snow globe after it has benn shaken. I also happen to be a frustrated script writer and playwright whose career suffered a tragic death due to Covid. So, I am now adding a brand new title to my repertoire: children's author.
The children’s author world is a far more welcoming community than other writing communities. You knock on the door, they open it and bring you in with open arms. As opposed to the scriptwriting world that is so competitive— if you so much as drink a glass of water in front of anyone, when you turn your back they will measure the ounces. This is a world that wants new content, but won’t read anything new. A world that wants new writers, but when you knock on their door, they hold you back and keep you out like the Chinese holding back the Mongolians. So, like the cast of Friends, I decided to pivot and started writing children’s books. I invite you to meet Penny the Pittie Pup A Tail of Courage, now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.com.
Penny the pit bull is a friendly, happy pup with a loving family—and a few fears. Chirping squirrels, hopping bunnies, buzzing bees, and the neighbor’s pool frighten Penny. They all look so scary! While Penny is afraid of scary-looking creatures and water, people in her neighborhood think she is scary-looking. It seems that no one sees Penny for the sweet dog she really is.
However, when the boy next door gets in trouble, Penny is the only one who can help. Facing her fears, Penny discovers that she can be brave and overcome what scares her. When people hear how heroic Penny was, they realize that she’s not so scary after all. Penny learns that love, courage, and doing the right thing, even when you’re scared, are the things that matter most.
So, join me and Penny on this new adventure in the children’s book world, where everyone is warm and fuzzy and they act like a well behaved A.A. Milne character.
